Bentonville, AR –The Aurora Breast MRI machine was delivered to The Breast Center, a MANA Clinic, at 801 South East Plaza Avenue in Bentonville on May 25, 2018. The MRI machine, weighing over 8,500 pounds, required the removal of a wall and assistance of a crane.
Aurora Breast MRI is the most sensitive breast-imaging test available, and it can detect small breast cancers that are not seen with mammography. The Breast Center in Fayetteville and Bentonville are among the few breast centers in the nation to offer dedicated breast MRI.
Breast MRIs at The Breast Center, a MANA Clinic, are read by the world-renowned radiologist and MRI expert, Dr. Steven Harms.
Aurora Breast MRI is the only MR instrument manufactured specifically for breast imaging. The MRI machines typically used in hospitals are designed for whole body applications and are altered to do breast imaging.
“Not only is having the Breast MRI in the center convenient for our patients, having all the exams and images at one center with the expertise of the breast imaging specialists, has been shown to improve breast care,” said Kelly Pierce, MD, a breast imaging physician at The Breast Center, a MANA Clinic.
Breast MRI screening is recommended for women who are at high risk for breast cancer or family history of breast cancer, history of chest radiation, and women with implants. Breast MRI is also used as a diagnostic tool and to monitor breast cancer treatment.
The Breast Center is now scheduling Breast MRIs at the Bentonville center in addition to the Fayetteville center starting Monday, July 9, 2018. For more information, visit Breast MRI or call (479) 271-0084.
