The JDRF One Walk is a fundraising event that celebrates the people living with Type 1 Diabetes…and raises money for research and advocacy for the community.
Register for the Arkansas JDRF One Walk.
November 14th is the big day, but there are already 10 teams signed up!
Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
Since 1970, the nonprofit JDRF has been working to increase research and resources for Type 1 diabetes. JDRF is the largest funder and advocate of type 1 diabetes research worldwide. Their One Walk fundraiser is an important way that research gets funded. It is JDRF’s biggest fundraising event.
The average participant raises more than $400 for T1D research. So far, JDRF has funded more than $2 billion in research, supporting scientists in 20 different countries.
Your Walk, Your Way
This year, communities are gathering on November 14th to walk together if it’s safe to do so.
However, this year is all about “Your Walk, Your Way.” That means you can log steps on your treadmill indoors, work with your school, church, or workplace to walk together in your neighborhood, walk as a family, or get your miles in however you choose!
You can register as an individual, join an existing team, or create your own team. Your team can physically walk with you, or you can have a virtual team walking in many different places. Then contact your friends and family to find donors who will support your walk.
Check the matching gifts database to see whether your company makes gifts to match the donations you receive.
Type 1 diabetes
Type 1 diabetes can come on suddenly for children or adults, causing their bodies to stop producing insulin. Without insulin, the body can’t get the glucose (sugar) in the bloodstream into the cells of the body where it needs to go.
People who join the JDRF One Walk often have Type 1 Diabetes themselves, or walk in honor of friends or family members who have it.
Sharing their stories is a big part of the event.
If you want to take part, you can create a footprint to use in social media and in fundraising.
